Rockin' the Tie

4 months!

Weight: 14 lb 7 oz
Length: 25 inches

Doc calls him, quote, a "lazy bones" for refusing to push up during tummy time. HA! I call him smart for knowing that if he lays there and cries, he'll avoid having to do tummy time altogether.

Trip to Florida

We braved a plane ride with the wee one to travel down to Florida and visit my mom and my friends. Kyle had a conference down there, so we figured it was a good opportunity for me to take along and get home for the first time in nearly 2 years. It was an adventure to say the least, full of firsts for our boy!

First time on a plane...

First time with a pacifier.... Everett likes to walk and bounce when he's cranky, but turbulence forced us to stay in our seats. He was screaming his head off and there was nothing else we could do. So, we popped this sucker in and he completely surprised me by taking it. I thought for sure he'd spit it out and laugh in my face.

First time on a tram! Note the change in outfits from the plane. Yeah, he totally blew out his diaper mid plane ride, and I had to change him in my seat (again, turbulence). That was fun.

First time at a lake, on a dock :)

First time dipping his feet in something other than his bathtub :)

First time he ever did a 90 degree turn overnight! We laid him down lengthwise at night, and found him like this in the morning.

First visit to Grandma's house.

The First REAL Laugh!

Everett has been giggling for awhile now, but the first real belly laugh came today! He was in his jumperoo and it was seriously the sweetest noise I've ever heard. It wasn't until he'd been laughing for quite some time that I thought to get the camera (I was so stunned it was actually happening that I couldn't think of anything else), but he still got some cute giggles in after the camera was rolling. He got the hiccups right before we started the camera, and they kept preventing him from finishing the laugh.

The Roll-Over!

Everett rolled over for the very first time today! Yesterday when I was out shopping with my mom, I picked up a tummy time mat for him. This morning when I put him on it, he immediately tucked his arm under his body and half-rolled to his side, where he laid for probably 15 minutes playing and squirming. Eventually, I pushed him the rest of the way over to show him how to roll, then flipped him back to his tummy for him to try it himself. And over he went! And again. And again. And now he's now a rolling pro!

Emotions Can Change in an Instant

Around here, it's giggling with delight one instant, and pouting and shrieking with displeasure the next. One thing is for sure, our boy is spirited! It's no wonder his moods change with the wind, with me as a mother. Goodness knows I'm an emotional rollercoaster. He gets it honestly!

"You're the coolest, mom!"

"Maybe you're only kinda cool afterall..."

"I've decided. You're a meanie."

First Mother's Day

Okay, technically, this is my second mother's day, but last mother's day I didn't even know I was pregnant. Instead, I was out drinking beer and mimosa's with my mother. Great way to start the pregnancy. ;)

Everett was actually quite the grump yesterday. Kyle insists it was because he was frustrated that he couldn't tell me in words "Happy Mother's Day." I bet. But, despite his mood, we did manage a couple photos to remember the day.

Holding Our Boy

How exactly is this comfortable? Bonus, he's gagging himself with his fingers. Hilarious.

Kyle was putting the little guy to sleep and my heart absolutely melted at the sight of these little feet poking out from behind. Purely sweetness.

Those Ears

I've got a thing for hats with ears. Isn't he just too cute in this hat?? We'd just finished an hour long walk around the neighborhood, soaking up the sunshine and warmth (okay not too much warmth since he's still wearing a winter hat). :)

Oh Monkey, How I Love You

This kid is hilarious cuddling with his monkey. He stares longingly into his eyes and snuggles him around the waist. I was trying to catch him in the act but he's too smart... knew I had the camera out. Instead, it turned out like "MOM! You're interrupting our cuddle time!"

21 Days to Make a Habit

That's what they say anyway, right? Wonder if this applies to babies too? [wishful thinking] Everett has now gone 21 (actually 22) nights straight of sleeping through the night (10-12 hours per night). Hallelujah! While I'm sure it won't last forever, I am relishing in the gift of uninterrupted sleep I'm currently getting. Thank you, dear Everett!

And now, for the token photo that's required for every post. Here's Ev having the time of his life in his Jumperoo. He's still a little small for it, but boy does he ever love it!

Toys!

Everett has gotten so into his toys lately. It's so fun watching him interact with them - holding them, shaking them, reaching for them, etc. I actually think he gets frustrated sometimes because he wants to go after something but isn't mobile. You can see the intent in his eyes and his desire to go, go, go. The way he's growing, it won't be long!
